These are awarded
for outstanding work by an organisation or
individual in either of the following two
categories:
■ The development
of an alternative method to the use of animals
in experimental
procedures and the practical implementation
of such an alternative resulting in
a significant reduction in the numbers of
animals used in experiments; or
■ Practical work
in the field of animal welfare resulting in
significant improvements
for animals either nationally or
internationally.
All submissions must be animal welfare
orientated and be of direct benefit to animals.
Since it was established in 1989, significant
achievements over many years within the field of
animal welfare have been recognised by the
periodical presentation of "The Jeanne
Marchig Animal Welfare Award". The Award
takes the form of a financial donation in
support of the
successful candidate(s) work.
The Award is usually given to
an individual or organisation, but if circumstances so dictate
the Trustees may decide that the Award be given
to two or more individuals or organisations that
have collaborated. Whilst the selection of those
to be nominated for and to receive the Award
rests with the Trustees at their absolute
discretion, the Trustees still welcome suggested
nominations from outside parties.
These nominations should be submitted in writing
to the Trust's offices by using the
'Nomination Form' which can be downloaded
from the Award Nomination Form page.
The Form must be received by the 30th
September of the year in which it is submitted.
